Egypt 2030 Hackathon

Egypt 2030 Hackathon was an intensive competition sponsored by Pepsico and Riseup. The competition strived to discover startup ideas that work toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) determined by the UN 2030 Agenda; this was achieved by gathering Egypt’s brightest minds in the Four Seasons Cairo at the First Residence, then putting them through an intensive competition where teams presented their ideas and were cut out by 3 filtration phases in 3 consecutive days.

The competition started out with over 25 teams, 3 of them containing NU students. The final filtration phase included a complete business pitch of the teams’ ideas in front of a judging panel that included the CEOs of Riseup and Falak, a venture capitalist, a Pepsico executive, and the Director of the Rowad 2030 Initiative at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development. The 8 remaining teams (one of them representing NU) will experience a 5-week incubation program provided by Riseup, concluding in a massive business pitch. Ultimately, the selected winner earns a cash prize of 500k EG.

The least we can say is that we are very proud of our students and wish them the best of luck!
