Dr. Seyed Mehdian

Biography

Seyed Mehdian is a Professor of Finance in the School of Management at the University of Michigan-Flint. He received his BBA degree with a concentration in Accounting from Tehran College of Business, MSE from Western Michigan University, a Ph.D. degree from Southern Illinois University. Before joining the University of Michigan-Flint, he taught at Temple University, Western New England University, Ohio State University-Newark, and the University of Baltimore.

Seyed has published 69 scholarly articles in professional/academic journals such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Services Research, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Emerging Markets Review, Global Finance Journal, and Emerging Market Finance and Trade. He is the editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Finance and Banking Research and is on the editorial board of the Annuals of Economic and Business and the Valuation Journal (evista de Evaluare). In 2016, he was the invited editor of Scientific Annals of Economics and Business. He served as the Vice President of the Midwest Finance Association from 2008 to 2016.

Seyed has developed and led several study-aboard courses to Russia, China, India, Japan, Taiwan, and Germany. He was awarded the Fulbright Scholarships in 2007 (with extension in 2008), 2012, and 2019 to carry out research and teaching in Romania. As a visiting professor of finance, he delivers lectures at the Romanian American University in Bucharest, Romania

Seyed is the recipient of the University of Michigan-Flint Faculty Scholarly and Creative Achievement award in 2001 and the School of Management Service Award in 2014 and 2015. He was awarded the Erasmus+ Scholarships in 2016, 2017, and 2019. Seyed is a CPA (Australia).
