Why Biotechnology?

Biotechnology School at NU includes the employment of new techniques to handle biological systems at the cellular and subcellular levels; besides, it teaches students how to handle the living compartments in the respective biological system at different levels (e.g. Molecular, Biochemical, Biology, Microbial, etc.).

Biotechnology is a flourishing area of research that plays a key role in the national and global economy worldwide. The biotechnological revolution has grown to encompass almost every aspect of our daily lives: health, medicine, food, agriculture, environment, business and, industry.

Biotechnology has applications in five major fields, including health care (medical biotechnology), crop production and farm animals’ improvements (agricultural biotechnology), food biotechnology, bioprocessing, bioengineering, pharmacobiotechnology, and environmental biotechnology including biodegradable plastics and biofuels.
