Prof. Amr A. El-Sherif

Prof. Amr A. El-Sherif (S' 00, M' 08, SM' 15) received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt in 2002 and 2005, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA, in 2009. He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Computer Science and Engineering Dept., Qatar University, Qatar, for two years. He is currently a Professor and the director of the ECE program, Nile University, Egypt. He also holds the position of Professor at the Electrical Engineering Dept., Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, Egypt. He was the director of the Wireless Intelligent Networks Center (WINC), Nile University, Egypt between Sep. 2017 and Sep. 2019. 

Prof. El-Sherif is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has served on the technical program committees of major IEEE conferences. He is the recipient of the State Incentive Award in Engineering Sciences in 2015, and the Medal of Excellence in 2017 from the Egyptian government. His research interests lie in the broad area of design and performance analysis of wireless networks with emphasis on cognitive radios and networks, cooperative communications and networking, cross-layer design, MAC, scheduling and resource allocation, as well as the applications of machine learning in communication networks.
